Cruise or riots

I was supposed to be on the Aida today for the start of a week’s cruise around the Mediterranean. That was booked before I knew I would be moving to China. So instead I am in Thailand (Bangkok this week) for work. And as it happens and as it seems to be the case often lately there are quite a few riots around.

I am staying in a great hotel in the middle of town called The Sukhothai.

I have not had the opportunity to use much of the facilities so far but since I the weekend is upon me and I am staying here, I shall make the most of it as well as visiting the town.

Went for a long walk this Saturday

The best way to discover Shanghai is on foot as far as I am concerned.

Where did this week go? I am looking forward to a lazy weekend.

Made it to an Olympic event…

I was fortunate enough to go to the football semi final game in Shanghai.

Mid August in Shanghai

Sunday

Went to golf practice. Not brilliant today, but good fun. Benjamin and I went then to pick up his sidecar which was being repaired.

We then rode home to Nova which was brilliant. I took quite a few pics …

(look at the reflection from the bus…)

and videos on the way home.

for a well deserved aperitif.. (1 & 2)
Saturday

The best thing of the week was the decision to buy radio controlled boats with the intention to hold races on the pond in the residence. Of course all sponsored by Nova. So the next steps is to actually go and buy the boats (which apparently is a very cheap affair here).

Went to Bee Dees a couple of times. Had good fun on Tuesday. Anyone can play music, right?

Another week in Malaysia

The now usual round trip in Malaysia Kuala Lumpur - Alor Setar - Kuala Lumpur.

It is not as close to Shanghai as one might think. There is a 5 hours plane ride.

However for a change it is a daylight flight for me and I love watching the multitude of islands down the east coast of Thailand and Malaysia.

Life in Alor Setar is always the same, plenty of work and little other to do…

Back in Kuala Lumpur we managed to surprise Stephen (Thanks to his girlfriend) for a birthday dinner in a nice Thai restaurant. Probably the last time I see him in Malaysia since he is moving to Australia at the end of the month.
