A few days in Kuala Lumpur

Always a pleasure to be in Malaysia. I like the area behind the Twin Towers in KL, a good spot to relax with a drink and watch the world go by.

My first visit to Australia

Just about to leave Sydney where I spent the past 2 days (on business of course and unfortunately) after having spent 3 days in Melbourne at the beginning of the week.

One of the big attraction is of course the Opera and the area around it called the Rocks.

I quite liked that angle…

That looked like an interesting ride…

The old town is great as well

An interesting fact is that there are more people living in Shanghai than in the whole of Australia.

Busy week in India

A full week in Mumbai. Plenty of sun, dust, work, curry and not enough time for Gin & Tonics.

Stayed in the same hotel as last time. Did not have the opportunity to enjoy the beach though.

This is typical India, this model is still being produced I believe

That is  typical India as well…

A few hours in Bangkok

On my way to India with a few hours stop over in Bangkok. This is definitely the airport I now have spent the most time in the last few years.

Today is good though, not crowded and am able to catch up with my work emails. Feeling good. I have not bumped into anybody I know yet which is quite unusual.

1st Month in Asia

So there we are, the first month has flown by. This is my 3rd week in Shanghai and I really feel at home now. I have a well established routine, my favorite restaurants and bars, work is going well and my first visitor (Carole) was here for the past week.

This weekend is kind of special in China being the 1st of May weekend and therefore the so-called May holiday. Not that you would notice since all the shops and bars are open as usual. I even saw the post being delivered on the 1st itself.

But the city is overcrowded with people, hard to move around.

Yesterday we went to Suzhou, a “small” town of 2 million people. A town famous for its silk which obviously must have been part of the French concession because it is very similar to parts of the Shanghai with tree lined streets. You could think you are in the South of France. Especially yesterday as the weather was very good with temperatures reaching 28 degrees.

Got a lift there from a newly made Chinese friend and his wife who go there to play golf. It is about 1.5 hours drive from here. We came back by train which was a new experience and a very good one as it happens and I think I shall it a lot more. Efficient, clean and on time (and of course over crowded but it is ok since you must have a reservation).
