So it looks like I have cracked it… I have been unable to access this blog and maintain it as Wordpress is one of the “banned” site here in China. Uploading photos is still a problem though but I am working on it.

Yesterday I have my first visitor, Jens from Gehrden is spending a few days in Shanghai on business and got in touch Saturday. We had lunch together at Nova after I gave him a tour of the compound and my flat.

After having bumped into that crowd of expats (mostly French) on my first evening at the apartment, I now know so many people that it feels like I have been living here for years. I went out shopping a couple of times yesterday for bits and pieces such as bread, DVDs, cigarettes and bumped into someone I knew every time.

Tuesday April 8th

This is it, I have moved in during my lunch hour. Just making a list of “must buy” this evening. Corkscrew is ok, but coat hangers are missing, food might be a good idea, coffee for tomorrow morning and maybe a bottle of wine for tonight.

Monday April 7th

My first working day should I say. Spent the day getting organised, settling down in my new office, getting the keys to my apartment, ordering a new mobile phone, getting my new laptop etc etc.

Spending another night at the hotel, will move in to the flat tomorrow after I have done some shopping for essentials. More to follow.
