France for Easter
30.3.2008 von Jean Jacques.
My last opportunity before moving to China. Drove down to Breves to see my Dad for the long weekend.

As an added bonus Christian and Valerie were in the area in their new country house so we all had lunch together. Despite the not so brilliant weather we went for a long walk.

Did a bit of shopping in nearby Clamecy. I do like the medieval style there.

In Asia yet again (III) - Tokyo
16.3.2008 von Jean Jacques.
March 17th
Just landed back in Frankfurt. It is a long long trip especially with the short stop over in Bangkok. Door to door one basically needs 29 hours most of which spent in the air.
March 12th to 16th
I think this is getting to be one of my favorite city.

The hotel I stay in is not bad either.

I also had the opportunity to travel around the country with the famous bullet train.

I also found the famous “Electric City” which is the image I had of what Japan was all about.

It is only a couple of blocks big, neon lights everywhere and more tourists buying electronic stuff in the little shops than locals. Has to be seen once but does not represent the modern but very traditional Japan I appreciate.

Had a few days in Taipei. Really quite a nice place and I love the hotel (Hotel Landis) I stay in.

In Asia yet again (I) - Shanghai
2.3.2008 von Jean Jacques.
Wednesday March 5th
Had a few hours free so took the opportunity to for a final apartment search. It looks like I might have found something suitable. Mind you I had to walk for hours and discovered some more of Shanghai that way.

and then in the middle of the busy town you come across a pond and people relaxing, fishing, etc etc

In the evening we were treated to a show “Shanghai acrobats”… I certainly would recommend it.

Tuesday March 4th
Did not have a very good night, woke up non stop and feeling horrible this morning. However duty calls so I shall make my way to the meeting room which fortunately is only 2 floors up from my bedroom.
Monday March 3rd
A day full of meetings, but nevertheless had the time to explore the grounds of the hotel during a little stroll at lunch time. One of the only 3 spots (including the zoo) with a bit of green downtown Shanghai apparently.

Sunday March 2nd
Made it through “Emma” and just landed in Bangkok on my way to Shanghai. This is of course the airport I have spent the most time in in the past 6 months. A quick stop in the duty free shop to buy a watch and say hello to the people I know there and now a 3 hours wait till the next flight.

Finally made it to Shanghai at around 4pm (local time). Going through immigration was not a problem and very fast for a change, however the taxi queue was about 300 meters long and it took me almost an hour to get one.

I arrived at my hotel (which is a great place) at 5:58 precisely to find all my colleagues waiting for me for the planned “working dinner”.
