Skyscrapers

As you might have noticed, I have a soft spot for Skyscrapers and high buildings. I have visited a few over the past few years. Here is a good page with loads of information on existing and foreseen buildings. Am quite impressed with the planned Chicago Spire.

Back in Shanghai

Friday Jan 18th

Made it to the Shanghai museum in the morning. It is fascinatting to see 8000 years old bronze works and artifacts. Even more amazing is that the characters on these pieces can still be read by the average Chinese.

Thursday Jan 17th

Took the timne to explore on foot the area I shall (hopefully) be living in. Quite pleased I managed to find it on my own actually. It is a mixture of very modern and old. Walking down my future street I came across this lady on a bicycle. A fairly common view in China. How they cope with the heavy traffic and as far as I am concerned terrible drivers is a mystery to me. But then again there are no official statistics on accidents and road deaths.

Wednesday Jan 16th

Was invited to an official New Year dinner with another 800 guests and pleanty of action on the stage…

Tuesday Jan 15th

Spent the day looking at 10 different properties / apartments to rent. Actually the first and second one I saw were the best and I hope I can get one.

Monday Jan 14th

1st full day in town. Started with a medical with gave me a good insight as to how the authorities work here…

Spent the rest of the day being shown around town. There are a few “old parts” to be seen in this concrete jungle.

Sunday Jan 13th

Landed a couple of hours ago in China for my 4th trip here. A grey, cloudy and cold day here. Since it is lunch time, I guess I might go up to the bar at the top of the hotel and take it easy for the rest of today. It is Sunday after all.

Happy New Year

The year of the Rat (from Feb 7th) … and apparently, it is not as bad as it sounds. Will find out for myself I guess.

For those who have not heard yet, I am moving to Shanghai in the coming weeks…

Spent New Year in England / London.
