Malaysian trip - 1
28.2.2007 von Jean Jacques.
Wednesday February 28th
Evening
Too tired to even find some comments to make today.
Tuesday February 27th
Late afternoon
Nothing much to report, work, work, work. The hotel, contrary to their advert, does not have the services advertised. It is in fact brand new and still smells of fresh concrete.

It is in the middle of nowhere as well as far as facilities are concerned (restaurants, shops etc). The problem is that there is not much choice here really. At least it is clean enough, bording on the too clinical. Another 3 nights here.
Monday February 26th
Night time
It has been a long day at work. I shall not comment on the hotel this evening (and for the next 4 nights) as I shall probably crash into bed and fall straight to sleep. I have managed however to find an internet connection, probably an unsecured WIFI from one of the shops across the road. I do not know how long this will last for though. Anyway, arrived safely in Alor Setar. A short crazy ride in a taxi took me to the plant in no time at all (the office shuttle who was supposed to pick me up was actually at the airport but unfortunately had broken down).
6am
Difficult to wake up so early this morning but I made it to breakfast with some time to spare before the limo picked me up at 6am to take me to the airport (here are a couple of clips from outside and ) to catch the first flight to Alor Setar in the north. Short flight really, nothing special to report. Am having a short coffee / cigarette break at the office right now. It will be a long day. Here as usual, the sun is shining and it is boiling hot. Glad to be inside with the aircon blowing full blast.
Sunday February 25th - pm
I guess I had quite a good rest day today. Unfortunately I have to get up early again tomorrow to get back to the airport to catch the first flight to Alor Setar where I shall be for the rest of the week. I call that place “no no land” as from past experience I have no possibiity to get in the internet from there which nowdays is a major disability I guess. So I might be fairy quiet for the next few days.
Took the opportunity this afternoon to check some of the services Google has to offer. They sure have come along way. I have decided to post my “postcards” there and I am still experimenting with other things. For instance their association with YouTube and video sharing. So here it goes, a short video of the redecorated Uncle Chili’s bar in the Hilton and a short clip of the band practising tonight.
Sunday February 25th - am
It has been a while, but I just made it back in Malaysia. Landed in Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) a little while ago. The usual limo ride from the airport took me to the Hilton in PJ in just under the hour. What does one do at 6am? I guess shower, breakfast and hope that there is some sun for a change so that I can spend a couple of hours at the pool for a well deserved nap. I intend to take it easy today.
I had an SMS waiting for me when I landed with the results of yesterday football games. Thank you Frank. So Hannover 96 won again… They sure are having a good run at the moment. What a change compared to the beginning of the season.

Indoor skiing
23.2.2007 von Jean Jacques.
A first for me today. I went for the first time to the Snow Dome in Bispingen which is about 45 minutes away from Hannover. I was quite impressed with the facilities but even more impressed with the fact that I can still ski…. after 25 years+. It has given me the appetite to do some more…

Weekend in Paris
20.2.2007 von Jean Jacques.

I have been duly reminded, that March 17th is St Patrick’s day. Ok, that is the weekend some of us are having a reunion in France. I know for a fact that there are quite a few Irish pubs in Paris and if I recall we use to visit a couple regularly (dare I say it 35 years or so ago). Just an idea…
Just realised as well that March 17th is the last day of the Six Nations Rugby tournament. Obviously the Irish team is playing… in Italy however. It could be busy in the pubs nevertheless.
The games on that day are:
- Italy - Ireland
- France - Scotland
- Wales - England

Top 100
14.2.2007 von Jean Jacques.

I have started working on my top 100 (or so) of all times.
I also use Yahoo Radio extensively and have my own “station” there. If you want to be influenced (as they say) by my music then I suggest you try it.

One of my favorite places…
14.2.2007 von Jean Jacques.
Have I ever commented on one of my favorite building in Paris?
La Conciergerie has always been in my top 5. I really like the round towers, which obviously made quite an impact on me since my early years. No wonder then that one of my “dream house” must have a tower in which I would build my office. Enough dreaming.
I shall ignore the fact that the Conciergerie was also once turned into a prison.
