At the time of writing this, there are in fact …

… to go and I cannot wait. I know it is a bit far awaybut it is well worth it. I have no special newsexcept it is confirmed that Klaus and son arecoming too for sure. Everything is ok with the gite. The bobs are arriving on Wednesday so they can have a chance to have a round of golf (which reminds me I have to go and get a set of clubs to bring back to Germany. Good thing we have a long weekend coming up here in China.

I guess it is time to do some more detailed planning and recap on the situation so far. I have had a couple of communications with some of the German contingent in the past days.

So here is an update:

 Germany:

1 - Klaus and his son ( a rookie) are intending to drive down to arrive Friday evening till Sunday evening after the race. They will bring a tent.

2 - I hear through Klaus that Toto, Joerg, Ack & a friend (another rookie) are also planning to come and arrive on the Thursday.

England:

Bob 1, Bob2 and his brother Peter (rookie), Chris and his son Rob + friend Ian.

Info to the German guys, Bob has already purchased tickets and tribune seats for the English contingent and myself

France / China

I am flying in and arriving in Paris on Thursday morning directly from Shanghai and will find my way to Le Mans somehow.

I have not heard from Christian but he is the one who can decide  on the day since it is only a matter of a couple of hours drive for him.

So I make it 13 people which obviously mean a couple of tents are needed (German team make note…)

All is set with the Gite, I have had quite a few communications with Bruno and Didier earlier this year.

Only 5 weeks to go…

This 77th edition of the greatest endurance race in the world will be the first one to use the new ACO rules. These rules will be progressively put into place between 2009 and 2011, with essential directions for the future of the race in terms of sporting equity, safety, reduction in costs and in terms of sustainable development.
More than ever, the 24 Heures du Mans will be in tune with the times. The sport will gain from it, and the show will once again delight and thrill the spectators, the record number of which to beat is 258,500 (2008 figures).
Big news for 2009: A round of the ‘Formula Le Mans’ will open the race.

I’ll be there yet again… Getting closer all the time, 46 days left to be precise.

Those new LMP1 Aston Martins look just the job…

The time has come again. I shall be off early in the morning to meet up with Graham and son in Paris early afternoon. We are aiming to be in the gite in time for aperitif and dinner. Hopefully Bob & Bob have arrived safely today and will be doing a bit of shopping tomorrow (plenty of Ricard). Also hopefully Joerg, Acki and Andreas will not be too far behind me from Germany. Not sure sure when Chris and son are due to arrive. The only one missing will be Christian who cannot make it till Friday night.

Am really looking forward to it all.

16.00 Nice to have a day off in the middle of the week… Am taking the time to start planning for 2008.

A couple of things to note:

• Le Mans 24h is in theory on June 14th & 15th. I have decided to drive down as I shall take a few days holidays in the south of France after the race.
• Weekend in Amsterdam with “la bande” in April or May? We should try and fix dates asap.
